Kevin Dykes
Chief Kevin Dykes, a native of Philadelphia, PA. He was a member of the Pennsylvania State Police from 1981-2001. Upon completion of his training at the State Police Academy in Hershey, PA in 1982, he was assigned to Troop J, Avondale, in Chester County, PA.
While assigned at Avondale, he was assigned to the Patrol Unit, from 1982 to 1986. He was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Unit, from 1986 to 1996. While assigned to the Criminal Investigation Unit, he served as an Undercover Officer for two (2) years with the Troop J, Vice Unit. He was also assigned to the Troop J, Criminal Investigative Assessment Unit (CIA), from 1990 to 1996, where he served as a Criminal Investigative Analyst. While assigned to the CIA Unit, he was task with investigating unsolved Homicides in Chester and Lancaster Counties. Periodically, he was also assigned to various Homicide Task Forces throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In 1996 he accepted a promotion to the rank of Corporal, and was assigned to Troop H, Gettysburg. While assigned to Gettysburg, he served as a Patrol Unit Supervisor. In 1997 he accepted a position with the Pennsylvania State Police, Bureau of Drug Law Enforcement, at Departmental Headquarters, in Harrisburg, PA, where he served as the Asset Forfeiture Coordinator and the Financial Crime Enforcement Network Coordinator. In August of 1999, he accepted a position with the Bureau of Drug Law Enforcement, as Supervisor of the Troop J, Tactical Narcotics Team. He was responsible for overseeing narcotics investigations in both Chester and Lancaster Counties.
Chief Dykes has served with the Chester County Detectives since 2001. He was initially assigned to the Drug Unit, where he investigated drug violations. In mid - 2002 he was assigned to the Major Case Unit, where he investigated homicides, violent crimes, and financial crimes. In 2012 he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, as 2nd in command, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Major Case Unit, Drug Organized Crime Unit, Child Abuse Unit and Computer/Crime Scene Forensic Units. In 2016 he was promoted to the rank of Chief, as Chief of the Chester County Detectives.
In June of 2017 Chief Dykes became a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Session 268. With over thirty six years of law enforcement experience, Chief Dykes has obtained a vast amount of experience.
