Chief Gleason began his police career as a part time officer for Parkside Borough Delaware County while attending the Municipal Police Academy in 1980. In July of 1981, Chief Gleason was hired by the West Goshen Township Police Department as a patrol officer. He was selected to attend the Northwestern University Traffic Institute in Evanston Illinois in May of 1982. Upon graduation from Northwestern, he implemented the first Traffic Safety Unit in the police department. He was assigned to this position for six years and was responsible for the investigation of all serious motor vehicle accident investigations, traffic enforcement and the engineering and traffic studies related to implementing traffic control regulations.
In 1988, he was assigned to the patrol division and worked there for five years. In 1993, he returned to the Traffic Safety Unit and was promoted to Sergeant of that unit in 1996.
In 1998, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, 2nd in command of the department. In 2007, he was promoted to Captain, the first for the West Goshen Police Department. In 2011, he was promoted to Chief of Police, a position he holds today.
He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. He has completed POSIT, POLEX, Advanced Executive Leadership through Penn State University and the Police Command Institute through the Pennsylvania Police Chiefs Association. He is the past president of the FBI National Academy Associates Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter. He has served on the Chester County Police Chief's Executive Board since 2000 as the Sergeant at Arms.
He and his wife Nancy have been married for over 35 years. They have three children and five grandchildren and live in Honey Brook.
